Fairway’s Peterson Park will be a not-so-frightening Halloween destination for area children on Sunday evening.
The city’s “Trail of Tricks & Treats” will wind through the park from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The trail is designed for children 10 and under. The cost is $3 per person (ages 2 and under free) and that includes free hot dogs, chips, cookies, popcorn and more treats. Pie pumpkins will be available — while supplies last — for children to decorate and take home. Each child also gets a trick-or-treat bag, a breakaway neck lanyard and two glow sticks — one for the trail and one for Halloween night.
At 6 p.m. children can participate in a costume parade through the trail. The trail will be lined with Halloween lights and features games for children, including pumpkin bowling, potato sack races, pin-the-nose on the jack-o-lantern and a miniature beanbag toss.
The “Trail of Tricks & Treats” is one of the Fairway Parks and Recreation Department’s largest events of the year. Peterson Park is at 6136 Mission Road.
