Lancers soccer keeps momentum going heading into Senior Night Thursday
The Lancer scoring machine keeps turning out victories as the boys soccer team heads into tonight’s Senior Night matchup against Olathe Northwest.
On Tuesday, the team continued what has become its typical offensive domination, beating district rival SM South 8-1. The Lancers scored two goals right out of the gate, but SM South got on the board in the first half after senior SM East goalie sustained an injury. But the Lancers regained momentum, scoring two more goals before the half. SM East didn’t let up in the second half, scoring four more goals while shutting out SM South.
Seniors Tyler Rathbun and Carter Olander each scored three goals in the win. Bryce McClanahan and Clint Dunn each had one.
The 10-1 Lancers are hoping to keep the momentum going for tonight’s Senior Night game against Olathe Northwest, after which the team will have a ceremony honoring the 19 seniors in their final playing season. The game starts at 7 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.
