New cloth diaper store opens in Mission, catering to new parents in northeast Johnson County
A new business opened on Johnson Drive in Mission is counting on the continuing attraction of northeast Johnson County to young families.
Diaper Daisy is a baby story with modern cloth diapers as its centerpiece. The store, at 6114 Johnson Drive, is owned by Heather Berry, Justin Quick and Jessica Quick. Berry feels the area is on the upswing and there are lots of new families moving in. The cloth diapers at Diaper Daisy bear little resemblance to the hassle of the old style safety pin, white cloth and rubber pants of the past. Bright colors, one-piece modern fabrics are the new standard and liven the display walls. Berry says using cloth diapers can save a family about $2,000 for the first child and save about 9,000 disposables.
The store also sells safe feeding supplies, organic edible art supplies, organic skin care products, nursing supplies, baby carriers, diaper rentals and skin-friendly soaps.
The store plans classes and support groups for new parents and plans to use local vendors when possible.
Berry has operated an on-line store with similar supplies and the Quicks have a similar brick and mortar store in Omaha, where they live now. Berry, who lives in Shawnee will operate the local store.
The store is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
