A full sanctuary at Southminster Presbyterian Church Monday evening joined the voices in the choir to celebrate Hymnfest, a concert featuring widely-known and loved music from the hymnal.
The hymn festival marked the opening of the 75th anniversary year of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.The performance featured the Bells of Peace from Southminster and choir members from Southminster, Village Presbyterian, Rolling Hills Presbyterian and Trinity Lutheran. It was led by organist and composer Geoffrey Wilcken. The event was titled “Let All Rejoice Who Have a Voice to Raise: A festival ceremony of Hymnody.”
Interspersed with scripture readings, the choir engaged the audience with hymns such as “o Come, All Ye Faithful” to “O God, Our Help in Ages Past.”
