PV Planning Commission to hold public meeting on Village Shops renovations Tuesday
Prairie Village residents will have a chance to weigh in on the proposed improvements to the Village Shops — including a special-use permit for a drive-thru lane at a new retail space on the site of Waid’s — at a public meeting before the city’s Planning Commission next Tuesday, Sept. 11.
Village Shops owner LANE4 has proposed a slate of changes to the shops that would include a major expansion of the Hen House grocery store, the renovation of Mission Lane and the replacement building for Waid’s, which is set to be demolished.
Some confusion around the scheduling of the public hearing has caused at least one resident to call for the Tuesday meeting to be canceled and rescheduled. A sign on the site of the Waid’s building giving notice of the public hearing erroneously listed the date as “Tuesday, September 10.” The sign has since been corrected. At present, the city is planning on keeping the Tuesday, Sept. 11 hearing date as scheduled.
The Planning Commission won’t take formal action on the plans for the Village Shops until its Oct. 2 meeting.
