New library opens in Prairie Village residents’ front yard
Sure, the Corinth branch of the Johnson County Library has a bigger collection — but something tells us it doesn’t offer the same opportunities for serendipitous fun.
Prairie Village residents Echo and Karin McAdams have opened up a Little Free Library in front of their home at 4916 W. 78th Place, just north of Kansas City Christian School.
The library is housed entirely in a hutch on a post in their front yard. The McAdamses stock it with books for all ages. Anyone is welcome to come by and borrow a book. Once borrowers are finished, they return it — or replace it with a book from their own collection.
Karin said the Little Free Library’s current collection, listed below, should have something for everyone:
- The View from Saturday – E.L. Konigsburg
- Mysterious Benedict Society
- A Wrinkle in Time
- Aunt Dimity’s Death
- The Dark Wind – Tony Hillerman
- Leo the Late Bloomer
- The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax
- Whale Talk
- Junior Gymnast
- A Bargain for Frances
- Llama Pajamas
