Kid-run ‘Clean Up’ garage and lemonade sale brings in $1013 for charity

It took a little longer than originally planned, but Alexa Adams and her cohort of good-natured neighborhood kids were able to reach their goal of raising $500 for the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center through their “Clean Up for Kids” garage sale and lemonade stand.

Alexa’s mom Niki reports that the kids had tallied $479 in sales Saturday afternoon — just shy of their goal – when a neighbor came up and said she wanted to donate to the cause. Her $20 gift put them at $499.

A bit later, the kids were playing in the yard when another neighbor stopped by and handed over $14 in cash.

What’s more, with a $500 matching grant from Alexa’s dad’s office, the kids will be able to donate a total of $1013.

“The kids all seemed to have so much fun and begged to come back each day,” Niki Adams said. “They got to see their friends the last few days of summer and got to do a good deed at the same time. They were already talking about it next year.”
