Alexa Adams decided she wanted to do something meaningful with the final days of her summer vacation.
So with the help of mom Niki, the 10 year old rallied a corps of neighborhood kids to put on a fundraiser. The “Clean Up 4 Kids” charity garage sale kicked off yesterday at the Adams’ house, 4319 Oxford Road, with an accompanying lemonade stand to boot. (Alexa’s younger sister Maren is on lemonade duty).
The goal: raise money to the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center.
“We want to reach $500 to donate to the cause to help with kids with disabilities from ages birth to six,” Alexa wrote us. “This is very dear to my heart and hope you will join us for our fight.”
The neighborhood kids have donated their own items for the sale — and they’re the ones organizing the displays, negotiating prices, and handling the funds.
The sale started Thursday, and will run 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
