Some of the metro area’s most gifted young tennis players are taking to the courts today in hopes of securing a spot in the KC Junior Tennis League’s final rounds, which will take place at Homestead Country Club Friday.
Local clubs Indian Hills, Carriage Club, Kansas City Country Club, Homestead and Prairie Village are playing host to opening round action in the singles bracket today.
More than 500 players entered the tournament in singles and doubles competition. The doubles tournament took place Monday at venues across the metro. The winning pairs were as follows:
Boys 10: Thomas Dickinson/Mark Holewinski (KCCC), 6-4
Girls 10: Lauren Adriano/Megan Propeck (Blue Hills), 6-1
Boys 12: Matthew Berkley/Nick Pallotto (Carriage) 8-5
Girls 12: Sydnee Paisner/Sophia Tumminia (Hallbrook), 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6)
