CHEERIO! Bollier wins preliminary heat, outpacing Phelps, Clary
If his first appearance in the US Swimming Olympic Trials is any indication, Mission Hills’ Bobby Bollier is looking to take a trip across the pond this August.
Bollier outpaced all 138 other swimmers in the 200 meter butterfly preliminary heats this morning, notching a 1:56.69 performance that bested favored competitors Tyler Clary of the University of Michigan and Olympic veteran Michael Phelps. Clary came in second at 1:57.23. Phelps came in tied for third with Thomas Luchsinger at 1:57.75. Phelps holds the world record in the event with a 1:51.51 performance he logged at a meet in Rome in 2009.
WAY TO GO, BOBBY!
