From Homestead to London: Little lady gets Olympic surprise

Eight-year-old Charlotte Hawes hit the pool at Homestead Country Club Wednesday and came away with a trip to the London Olympics.

Hawes is one of ten finalists from across the country selected in McDonald’s Happy Meal Chefs contest. With the help of mother Tess, she submitted an application with a video explaining how the family cooks healthy meals for dinner. McDonald’s surprised Hawes with an announcement over the Homestead loudspeakers and a visit from Ronald McDonald.

The London-bound little lady, who lives across the state line from Prairie Village in Kansas City, Mo., will get to meet some of the Olympians and attend Olympic events. (Mom Tess gets to go as well).
