PV police issue nearly 200 seat belt citations as part of Click It or Ticket

Prairie Village police report that they issued 185 tickets for adults failing to wear their seat belts as part of the statewide Click It or Ticket campaign.

The campaign, which ran May 21-June 3, provided local departments with reimbursements for the time they spent enforcing state seat belt laws. Prairie Village police Sgt. James Carney with the department’s traffic unit reports that officers spent a total of 56.75 hours on the campaign.

In addition to the citations issued for adults failing to wear their seat belts, they issued two citations for speeding, two for young children not properly being restrained, seven for passengers and drivers under 18 not wearing seat belts and three for texting while driving.
