PV Sister City committee looking to help rebuild music school in Ukraine
Prairie Village Sister City Committee chair James Hohensee sent in the following article regarding the group’s upcoming silent auction to help support the renovation of a music school in Dolyna, Ukraine:
Prairie Village’s Sister City, Dolyna, Ukraine, is raising money to help renovate its music school. Peace Corps workers Robin and Jim Eleazer are helping the school arrange a silent auction fundraiser. Robin writes:
“On September 8th the Lysenko Choir from Holland has generously donated their time and talents to help our music school. We are trying very hard to remodel an empty wing into a concert hall which we desperately need in Dolyna. It would truly be a community center. The concert will feature the 50 choir members and 6 performances by our talented music school students.”
The Prairie Village Sister City Committee is collecting contributions for the silent auction which will follow the concert. The items need to be small and easily shipped. We will ship them by the first week in July because of the very slow mail going to western Ukraine.
Popular items include Harley-Davidson items, American West (cowboy) items, scarves, jewelry, lotions and small make-up items, anything with Prairie Village on it, items with the U.S.A. flag, coffee table books, simple song books, and A-B-C books.
If you would like to donate items please contact Jim Hohensee, Chair of the Sister City committee, at 913-432-0477.
