New poll: Should Prairie Village consider raising property taxes to save on maintenance costs in the long run?

Prairie Village City Councilor Charles Clark on Wednesday sent a letter to his peers on the City Council laying out his case for considering an increase to city property taxes as a way to stem what would be increasingly costly maintenance and repairs to city infrastructure in the coming years.

He argues that while no one wants to raise taxes, spending the money to maintain city roads, sewers, storm water systems and buildings is much cheaper in the long run than letting them fall into such a state of disrepair that they must be completely replaced.

How do you think the City Council should approach the issue of capital spending as it considers its 2013 budget?

How should Prairie Village approach needed repairs and maintenance to city infrastructure?
