Vote for Prairie Village’s best Art Face

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and saw Julia at the Prairie Village Post table at the Art Fair Friday. And larger thanks to everyone who stepped up and entered our almost semi-famous “Show Us Your Art Face” contest.

First, let’s take a look at the piece of art that our Art Fair patrons were reacting to, as well as its young artist:

Olivia Senter describes her style as “freeflowing” and says her choice of colors is generally dictated by “how I’m feeling at the moment.” Or at least that’s how we interpreted her toddlerbabble. Remarkable.

Anydoodle, after careful consideration, we’ve narrowed the field of Art Face Finalists down to five. And they are:

The Geffert family

There’s a lot going on in this pic, but I think the thing that propelled it into the finals was the full spectrum of emotions the family captures. Solid stuff.

Katie and Molly Trenkle

I could try to come up with a couple of clever lines about how young Molly’s bemused look is a pure reflection of the wonder the artist was trying to capture. But mostly this entry makes the finals because it’s got a cute kid in it.

Mark and Qian Vranicar

The expressions are great, but what sets this shot apart is the perfectly parallel alignment of the head tilts. I’m guessing they practiced before they came.

The Smarts

These two came out swinging with a lot of emotion. What their entry lacks in subtlety it makes up for in brute force.

And, finally…

Rhonda Reist and Harper Lee

It’s got a dog. ‘Nuf said. (Or perhaps, “‘Ruff said’? HAhahahahahahahahahah! Ahhhh. It was a long weekend.)
