Create: Modern Home Decor moving to Prairie Village from the Plaza

Create on the Plaza is moving to the Village Shops.

Some good news for local shoppers saddened by the closings last year of design shops Curious Sofa and Stoney Broke, Ltd.: A popular design store is relocating from the Plaza to The Village Shops.

Create: Modern Home Decor owner Sherry George says she’s aiming to open for business in the space next to Minsky’s that was briefly occupied by the Toon Shop on May 30.

George said the store will offer three product and service lines: unique home decor accent furniture available in the store, a custom furniture building service, and in-home appointments for interior design services.

Sherry said she sees the move from the Plaza to the Village as a way to offer increased convenience to her customers.

“We have been telling our retail customers for the past two weeks about the move and most respond with, ‘Much better, we go to PV all the time,’” she said. “That is my favorite thing to hear.”

Store hours will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
