Shawnee Mission schools’ summer will start 2 days early, Indian Hills to dismiss even earlier
If you hadn’t noticed, it was warm this winter. Like, really, really warm.
Which was probably a pretty big disappointment to the thousands of school kids who pine for a blessed break in the form of a snow day. Well, kids, here’s a little deferred gratification: The Shawnee Mission School District will be letting out for summer two days earlier than initially scheduled.
The district builds two snow days into the calendar each year, and since it didn’t use them, it’s lopping them off the end of the semester. The final day for students in grades 1-11 will now be Wednesday, May 23. It will be an early dismissal day.
And students at Indian Hills get an extra couple days off so staff and teachers have time to prepare the building for continued construction projects over the summer. The final day for Indian Hills students will be Monday, May 21, and it will be an early dismissal day.
