Indian Lane closed to traffic as crews repair damage to creek bank
A stretch of the one of the most popular exercise routes in the area will be closed to wheeled traffic over the course of the next four to six weeks as crews work to repair erosion done to a creek bed wall.
Mission Hills has hired a contractor to shore up the banks of Brush Creek where it runs along the east side of Kansas City Country Club. The creek had cut under the stone and mortar wall that lines the creek, creating a cavern running toward Indian Lane.
Crews will remove the existing wall structure and replace it with natural terrain, which will be planted in an effort to create a stable bank.
Indian Lane will be closed to cars and bicycles from 63rd Street north to the entrance of Kansas City Country Club. Walkers and runners are permitted to cut through the area on the grass or shoulder of the road, but are encouraged to exercise caution. Or exercise cautiously. Take your pick.
