9 Lancers make National Merit finalists list

Nine SM East seniors have made the finalists list for the annual National Merit Scholarships.

Just 15,000 finalists are named, and are chosen based on their academic record, the endorsement of their principal, and their SAT and P-SAT scores.

The finalists from SM East are:

• Toni Aguiar
• Andrew Beasley
• Spencer Davis
• Maggie Fenton
• Duri Long
• Christiana Reene
• Mark Trowster
• Christian Wiles
• Ian Wiseman

Just over half of the finalists will be given funds to for their college educations through the National Merit Scholarships program. Nine other students from Shawnee Mission School District schools made the finalists list, as well.
