Search for ‘me moments’ prompts launch of PV mom’s clothing company
As the mother of three school-aged girls, Prairie Village resident Suzanne Stratman knows the feeling of just wanting a little time to yourself. And the desire to honor what she calls those “elusive me moments” was strong enough that she decided to turn it into a business idea.
Stratman launched So Ready Designs last year, and now has a line of fitted t-shirts for sale at boutiques throughout the Kansas City area as well as on Etsy. The tees feature graphics depicting the oases in many mothers’ days – from naptime to a cup of coffee – along with the phrase “Ready. So Ready.” The company also offers a line of customizable shirts for brides-to-be.
And even though the challenges of motherhood were part of the inspiration for the company, Stratman says her daughters – two are at Tomahawk Elementary, the other at Indian Hills – were integral in coming up with the ideas for the shirt.
“The girls and I had a lot of fun coming up with the designs,” she said. “One of my daughters is obsessed with penguins, and that’s where the penguin in the logo came from.”
