Fire strikes home near Roe and 95th Street

Dozens of firefighters and police officers were on the scene Saturday night of a several alarm fire in the 9600 block of El Monte in Overland Park, just one block south of 95th Street.

The Consolidated Fire District No. 2 battalion chief on the scene said no had been injured in the blaze. He said the homeowners were inside the building when the fire began. A neighbor said she had heard the pets inside had been evacuated safely as well.

We’ll have a full write up on the incident Monday.

Firemen used an electric circular saw to try to vent the roof of the burning house.
