The next big thing might just get its start in Prairie Village.

Think Big Partners, an early-stage business incubator, and Five Elms Capital, a venture capital firm based in Prairie Village, are partnering to open a new co-working space in the city this February.

Herb Sih, Think Big’s managing partner, said the joint venture would provide affordable office space to businesses in their earliest months and years.

“Sometimes, all you need is a place at a table to plug in your laptop, or a cube,” he said. “The co-working space provides shared office resources, and a chance to plug in to the support and access to capital markets that our companies can provide.”

Sih said the space’s anchor tenant will be Legal Sonar, a web company that provides a search engine to match individuals seeking legal services with attorneys who specialize in various fields. It was founded by Diana Kander, who previously founded KR Legal Management. Kander is the wife of Jason Kander, a Missouri state representative who is currently running for Secretary of State.

The new co-working space will be located in the same building as Five Elms Capital, on 75th Street across from the Bank of Prairie Village building.

Sih said the space was the first of several Think Big Partners was hoping to partner in opening in the coming year all across the country.

“We’ll be doing 10 to 15 for sure,” he said. “The Prairie Village space will be our first.”
