Freshman, sophomore, juniors and seniors on SM East’s boys basketball teams took a couple hours Wednesday to volunteer some time to help those less fortunate this holiday season.
Nineteen basketball players manned Salvation Army kettles at Hy-Vee on State Line and on Metcalf, at K-Mart on Metcalf, at Nuts and Bolts on Nall, and at the Westlake Ace Hardware in Corinth Square over four hours Wednesday afternoon.
And the giving didn’t stop there. The team made a trip to the Don Bosco Center later Wednesday afternoon where they presented a basketball goal to a family that a SM East marketing class had adopted for the holidays.
The Lancers are 3-2 heading into the winter break.
