Prairie Village police make holidays happy for seven local kids

Chief Wes Jordan dropped off a few of the gifts at the wrapping table.

Fifteen Prairie Village police officers took some time yesterday to make the holidays a little happier for seven area kids.

As part of the department’s inaugural “Shop With a Cop” program, the officers helped seven kids pick out presents for their families — and themselves — at the Target in Mission. The Prairie Village Municipal Foundation donated $600 to the shopping fund, and Target donated some gift cards as well.

After the shopping trip, the kids and police officers came back to the station where they had a pizza party and members of the Municipal Foundation helped wrap up some of the gifts.

“We had a great time,” said Capt. Tim Schwartzkopf. “The officers love getting out to do this kind of thing.”
