A late-autumn debut for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at SM East
SM East’s theatre department kicks off its 2011-2012 season tonight with the Shakespeare classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Theatre teachers Brian Cappello and Tom DeFeo tell the Harbinger Online they’ve worked to make the play more accessible to modern audiences, cutting out a sizable chunk of the Elizabethan dialogue that might have been too obscure for the audience. The show runs less than two hours.
Performances will be Thursday through Saturday in the Dan Zollars Auditorium starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $7, or are free with a SM East ID.
