Prairie Village Arts Council announces State of the Arts exhibit winners

The Prairie Village Arts Council on Friday hosted its annual State of the Arts exhibit at City Hall, with dozens of residents and art enthusiasts gathering to enjoy the more than 40 works entered into this year’s juried competition.

Two works, Carnavale: The Great Equalizer by Sara LaGrand and Rhonda S. by Joseph Smith, won Excellence Awards, with a monetary prize of $1,000.

The sculpture Day of the Dead by Dierk Van Keppel won Best in Show, which also carries a $1,000 prize:

Tired Trash Truck, a photograph by Kathleen Myers, won the People’s Choice award. Myers received $500.
