Johnson County approves funds for 2012 roads, stormwater projects in Prairie Village, Fairway and Leawood
Prairie Village and Fairway are among the Johnson County municipalities that will see significant benefit from the County Assistance Road System (CARS) Project in 2012.
Plans unanimously approved Thursday by the county’s Board of Commissioners authorized $506,000 be awarded to Prairie Village for a road improvement project on Somerset Drive from Roe Avenue to Nall Avenue. That project will also include the construction of an eight-foot paved trail on the south side of the street. A matching trail was completed between Franklin Park and the Corinth Shops earlier this year.
Fairway will receive $96,000 for sidewalk improvements along Mission Road from 63rd Street to Shawnee Mission Parkway.
The commissioners approved a total of $15.7 million in CARS projects for 2012.
In a separate move on Thursday, the commissioners approved a total of $18.1 million in stormwater projects, including improvements to Leawood’s Dykes Branch infrastructure from 82nd to Wenonga Streets.
