Firefighters hone their chops on abandoned Tippin’s building
No, the abandoned Tippin’s Restaurant building at Corinth Square wasn’t burning down last night.
Building owner LANE4 and Consolidated Fire District No. 2 worked out a deal allowing the firefighters to use the building for a series of training exercises since the building is scheduled to be demolished to make way for the new CVS to be located on the site.
Capt. Barter said the firemen were primarily practicing how to ventilate a roof, and weren’t setting any practice fires to fight. They opened up holes in the roof using axes and circular saws.
But who could resist the urge for a little target practice?
“We’ll be spraying a few walls inside, too,” he said.
