Cambridge Street, Weltner Park improvements under way

Crews have torn out the exisiting road on Cambridge Street and Booth Drive to make way for a new road near Weltner Park.
Work is under way on renovations to Cambridge Street and Weltner Park in Prairie Village that should make both driving and recreating in the area more enjoyable.
Street crews have dug up the existing road and are clearing the way for the street’s new path, which will eliminate the current “island” between Booth Drive and Cambridge street that separates a section of Weltner Park from the park’s main area.
Additionally, Weltner Park will be getting a significant upgrade, with a new jogging path built around its perimeter. There will also be a new 26′x30′ foot shelter, climbing structure, sand pit, and natural play area.
Road improvements for the project are budgeted at $512,000. The park improvements will cost $316,000.
Prairie Village Public Works Director Bruce McNabb estimates the projects will be completed in November.
