Prairie will use the $2,500 grant to create a student run garden market. They will also install an irrigation system and plant buffalo grass and perennials as a means conserve water that will be used in the garden.
Prairie was one of just two schools in the state to receive the grants, which are funded by Koch Industries in Wichita. According to the organization, the grants are intended to “encourage schools to develop creative, innovative, effective environmental projects which improve the environment; make schools a healthier place to learn, play, and work; and save money through reduced use of natural resources. “
