Prairie Village, Fairway to hold public hearings on proposed 2012 budgets
It’s the dead of summer, and that usually means things heat up at city hall as local city councils work to put together a balanced budget to submit to the county.
Both the Prairie Village and Fairway councils have been debating their budgets for the past couple months. Now, draft budgets have been published, and both cities will be holding open forums to get input on how they’ve allocated funds.
In Prairie Village, the 2012 proposed budget includes a mill levy increase of .60 to fund the addition of two new police officers. The new mill levy rate for the city would be 19.477.
In Fairway, the 2012 proposed budget holds the mill levy steady after a relatively substantial hike last year.
The Prairie Village budget hearing will be next Monday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Prairie Village City Hall. The Fairway budget hearing will be Monday, August 8 at 7 p.m. at Fairway City Hall.
