Gingerbread decorating funds making summer cooler for four Prairie Village families

You probably don’t need any reminding that it’s nice to be able to head to the pool when the weather’s been like it has. And four Prairie Village families have that option as a result of the funds raised by the Prairie Village Municipal Foundation’sgingerbread house decorating parties last holiday season.

Mely Ballard of Mely’s Yogurt and Ice Cream bakes the gingerbread houses for the annual fundraiser put on by the Prairie Village Municipal Foundation. Proceeds from the event are used to provide summer activity scholarships for local families.

This year, the $600 raised by the event provided pool memberships to two families of six, a family of two, and a pool membership and tennis lessons for a family of five.
