Prairie Village resident hoping others will help Plant it Pink

Prairie Village resident Barb Miksch is spearheading the local effort to raise funds for Plant it Pink, the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

For $20, Plant It Pink donors get a one-year membership in ACS CAN plus 10 Darwin hybrid pink tulips imported from Holland. The bulbs will be available for pick up Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 under the Village Shops clock tower, ready for planting in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Plant it Pink is also asking local business and homes associations to consider making a donation of $400, for which groups will receive 20 boxes of bulbs to plant a 200 bulb pink ribbon garden. The group will provide a diagram for this 5 foot by 3.5 foot garden.
