Well, it couldn’t have happened during a better set of days weather wise. (Scratch that: it’s super hot now, and not raining anymore…)
A major pipe rupture early Thursday morning at the Fairway pool has forced the facility to close until construction crews can replace a section of piping 100 feet long. Fairway Parks and Recreation estimates that the work will be completed and the pool reopened before the end of the weekend.
Fairway has arranged for its pool members to be able to attend other local city pools in the meantime. Fairway pool members can gain entry to the Prairie Village, Merriam, Mission, Roeland Park and Leawood city pools by showing their Fairway IDs until the pool is reopened.
