Missing cat: Have you seen Marco Polo?

Waldo resident Teresa Mears is hoping someone can help bring home her cat, Marco Polo. Though she lives about two miles east of Prairie Village, she got a call from a Prairie Village resident Saturday who thought she saw Marco Polo around 79th Street and Canterbury. Here’s a description from Teresa:

Marco Polo, a long-haired black and white cat, disappeared early in the morning of May 11 from 78th and Oak in the Waldo neighborhood of Kansas City, Mo. He is used to being outside, though not at night (he pushed out a screen), but we are new to the neighborhood so he may be lost or he may have gotten into a car or truck and ended up in a strange neighborhood. If he is heading for his old home in Miami, he is going the wrong way.

Marco is 7 years old, weighs about 11 pounds and was wearing a purple collar with tags carrying my Miami phone number when he disappeared. He also is microchipped. He is neutered and has all his claws. He is friendly but shy so might run away if you approached him, unless you were carrying cat food, catnip, chicken or ice cream. He is agile and good at hiding, so he could take refuge on your roof, in your garage, behind bushes or somewhere else he doesn’t belong.

I’ve had him since he was three weeks old, and his brother cats and I miss him very much. I’m offering a $500 reward for his safe return.
