One dead after burglary task force follows suspicious vehicle in Roeland Park
One person is dead and another is in treatment at The University of Kansas Hospital after their car hit a tree in Kansas City, Kan. following a police pursuit that started in Roeland Park.
A Johnson County Sheriff’s Office task force conducting an on-going investigation into burglaries in northeast Johnson County spotted a suspicious vehicle Friday at approximately 10:45 p.m. in a Roeland Park neighborhood just west of Fairway.
When a sheriff’s deputy and a Roeland Park officer pursued the vehicle, it headed north into Kansas City, Kan. Law enforcement officers lost sight of the vehicle at South 9th Street and County Line Road, but later found the mini-van crashed into a tree at the intersection of South 9th Street and Woodend Road. It was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
Police learned that the passenger in the van had died at 4 a.m. Saturday. The names of the two involved in the crash have not been released as police continue to investigate the incident.
