Fresh rash of residential burglaries hits Prairie Village

Prairie Village residents: time to keep an eye out for your neighbors.

Police logged a total of five residential burglaries the morning of Saturday, April 23. A sixth burglary was attempted in the 7000 block of Cedar Street. See the map below for a look at where the burglaries occurred:

Three of the burglaries took place within just a half mile of State Line Road, an area that’s been hit hard in the past. The call log shows police responded to the incidents between 8 a.m. and shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday morning. The log shows police received a call about an attempted burglary in the 7000 block of Cedar Street Friday night as well.

A PVPost.com reader who lives on El Monte Street tells us she saw a suspicious white Pontiac Bonneville with tinted windows driving down the street around 7 p.m. Friday night. The car had Kansas plates.

If you see anything suspicious, please call the Prairie Village police at 913-642-6868.

UPDATED: Police Chief Wes Jordan said he suspects the majority of the incidents took place Friday night, but weren’t called in until Saturday morning. At this point, he said, they have no leads or suspects, and don’t know whether all of the burglaries were related.
