Evening snow will make for a slushy — but not too slippery — commute

The intersection of 75th Street and Mission Road was slushy, but free of snow and ice, early Friday morning.

Winter weather may have made an unwelcome return yesterday, but springlike temperatures over the previous week appear to have left the roads warm enough that snow crews were able to make short work of the accumulated snow.

A trek out along the roads this morning found the main streets in Prairie Village virtually clear of snow and ice — albeit plenty slushy.

Side streets are in good shape as well, though we did find patches of ice that could make for slippery driving, so be careful on the trip to work:

March, and spring, may be just around the corner, but it looks like we’ll have to put up with winter for a bit longer. Temperatures should climb to just below the freezing mark today, and the national weather service predicts a 30 percent chance of flurries this afternoon, and a 40 percent chance of wintry mix tomorrow morning.
