Story to begin May 2, says restaurant owner
The windows may be blacked out now, but Carl Thorne-Thomsen says Story, the restaurant he plans on opening in the Village Shops with his wife Susan, will be set to make its debut May 2.
Renovations on the space, which was formerly occupied by Natural Wear, will be designed by BlueBike architects.
Here’s a description of the restaurant concept from a press release on the planned opening:
The full service restaurant will seat 60 in the dining area, 20 in the bar, and 30 on the patio. It will offer lunch and dinner during the week, brunch and dinner on the weekends. A bar menu will be available in the afternoons. Thorne-Thomsen, who spent the previous three years as Chef de Cuisine at Michael Smith and Extra Virgin Restaurants, will source ingredients from a well developed network of both local and national purveyors and serve seasonal new American fare inspired by the cuisines of France, Italy, and Spain. In choosing Prairie Village as the location for Story the Thorne-Thomsens felt they found the ideal environment for what they intend to be a casual yet elegant neighborhood restaurant.
