SM East theatre readying for run of Beauty and the Beast

SM East thespians are hard at work on their last week of rehearsals for the winter musical, Beauty and the Beast, before it makes its debut this Thursday.

With Jack Dee in the roll of the beast and Emily Welter as Belle, the performance is adapted from the 1991 Disney movie, which became later became a popular Broadway show.

Performances  will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3 through Saturday, Feb. 5, with a matinee on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. All performances are in the Dan Zollars Auditorium at SM East. Reserved seating tickets cost $7 ($5 with a Shawnee Mission East student ID) and are available at the school box office in advance and at the door before each show.
