Kids chase winter blues away, wish Kansas happy birthday at Village Presbyterian Winter Carnival
Village Presbyterian helped wish Kansas a happy 150th birthday — and give kids some much-needed winter activity — Sunday at its third annual Winter Carnival.
The event, which drew approximately 200 people, featured Kansas themed games — like Twister, in honor of our tornado-prone climate:
And a pancake race, in honor of the international event held in Liberal each year:
Of course, what would a Kansas Day celebration be without homage to our most famous portrayal in the movies? The girls at the event got a chance to braid their own pair of Wizard of Oz Dorothy pigtails:
The church started hosting the event to give people an excuse to get out of the house and have fun during the doldrums of winter.
“We don’t have any agenda other than for the kids to play and have a good time,” said event organizer Meridee Jordan.
