Court documents provide details of incident in Westport that led to Euston death

Brian Euston

A story by Kansas City Star reporter Christine Vendel includes information from court documents detailing the Oct. 10 incident that led to the death of Brian Euston, 24:

According to court documents, Euston, who was intoxicated, was being overly friendly and hugging people. Griswold’s girlfriend told him to leave, but Euston refused and “kept getting in their faces.”

Griswold grew irritated at Euston and said he was going to “knock him out” if he didn’t leave.

When Euston stayed, Griswold punched him once. Euston fell, striking his head on the concrete. Griswold and his girlfriend walked away, court records said.

The court record shows Euston had a blood-alcohol level of .387 at the time. Griswold was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter earlier this week. His bond is set at $75,000.
