A look at election ballots in Fairway and Mission Hills

We reported earlier this week on the race for Prairie Village mayor and the at-large seat on the Shawnee Mission board of education, so today we thought we’d take a gander at the names on the ballot in Fairway and Mission Hills:

Mission Hills

Three of the city’s six city council seats will be up for election in April, and four candidates have filed. Two current council members, Lisa Creighton Hendrick and David Dickey, are seeking reelection. Residents Dan Sullivan and Dorsey Troutman are seeking election as well. A fifth candidate, Ed Curry, filed in December, but removed his name from the ballot. The top three vote getters on April 5 will win council seats.

Fairway

In Fairway, Ward 1 council member Jim Poplinger and Ward 2 council member Gail Gregory have filed unopposed for reelection. Ward 4 incumbent Stuart Hoffman is not seeking reelection. J.D. Fair is the only candidate to have filed for the Ward 4 seat.

In Ward 3, two challengers — Blake Reeves and Bobby Vickers, Jr. — have filed to take on incumbent Tony Liu. Because there are three candidates filed for the seat, a primary election will be held Tuesday, March 1.
