Three Mission Hills city council seats open for April election
Three of the city’s five city council seats will be up for election April 11, and interested candidates must put in their “Declaration of Intention Filing Form” to City Hall by noon on Jan. 25. The filing fee is $5.
The seats presently occupied by council members Chris Anderson, Lisa Creighton Hendricks, and David Dickey will all be up for election. Dickey and Creighton Hendricks have both filed for reelection. To date, Anderson has not. Only one other candidate not presently on the council has filed, Aberdeen Road resident Ed Curry.
Should Creighton Hendricks retain her seat, it would be her first outright election win. She was appointed to the council in 2009 after then-councilman Rick Boesharr was elected mayor. Creighton Hendricks had made an unsuccessful previous run for the council prior to being appointed.
It is an at-large election, so voters will be asked to vote for three or fewer candidates on their ballots. The top three vote getters will win four year terms on the council.
