Trick or Treat Trot 5K: Surprisingly, the Rubik’s cube didn’t win

The start of the race.

It was a perfect fall morning for a run — particularly if you were wearing a bulky Halloween costume to keep you warm.

The Trick or Treat Trot 5K that started and finished at Corinth Square on Saturday brought out a mix of serious runners and people who were serious about their Halloween attire. We were particularly partial to the Thing 1 and Thing 2 duo of Felisa Prettyman (left) and Giang Vu of Harrionsonville, Mo.:

As well as the motion-constricting Rubik’s cube costume bravely adorned by Chelsea Schmidt of Overland Park:

As for the serious runners, David Dominguez, 35, of Shawnee took the overall victory with an unofficial time of 16:02:

And Summers Nelson, 22, of Kansas City, Mo., won the women’s division with an unofficial time of 19:04:

More costume pics after the jump.

Justin Meierer of Richmond, Mo., combined fun and functionality with his Richard Simmons costume, which took first prize in the costume contest.

Darren Papek, Smithville, Mo., came out in an always-popular Forrest Gump ensemble.
